The annual global trade in counterfeit drugs is estimated at $75 billion. Counterfeits penetrate every pharmaceutical market and have been blamed for hundreds of thousands of deaths annually. PharmaSecure allows consumers to authenticate medicine using mobile phones and the internet. PharmaSecure also provides targeted market research and advertising services by capturing data from authentications. The company will expand to authentication of other consumer products and will enlarge its geographic scope in emerging markets through its research and marketing efforts.
Job Summary
As a Technology Manager, you will be managing the engineering of entire platform and product suite of PharmaSecure's software products. You will work with organic & outsourced development teams, reporting into the Director of Technology & Ops. This is a dynamic fast paced role and you will be intimately involved in all technical aspects of PharmaSecure's engineering of products. We are looking for people who are:
• Great problem solvers and can resolve complex, highly technical issues (under time pressure)
• Hands-on on software coding for complex systems
• Creative and able to "think-outside-of-the-box" since you will often need to propose and implement new solutions for customers
• Excellent communicators who can disseminate information in a clear and correct manner to both business and technical audiences
• Capable of handling multiple issues and tasks
• Self-learners and able to operate independently and flexibly in an unstructured but demanding multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
• Manage research, design, and development of security, authentication & web solutions for PharmaSecure’s existing & new software.
• Manage implementation, hosting, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of PharmaSecure’s software.
• Manage software coding of complex solutions, majority in LAMP.
• Jump into software coding whenever required, to resolve complex issues.
• Manage a team of software developers, and external outsourcing vendors, to ensure efficient software delivery.
• Engineer client requirements into software products, by working with consulting team.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering.
• Overall Experience: at least 8 years of software engineering experience at a services or product company.
• Exposure to telecom and healthcare domains desirable.
• Exposure to sms & mobile applications desirable.
• At least 4 years of ‘Expert level’ experience in software development, design, system administration on LAMP with an MVC framework (e.g. CakePhp, Zend)
• At least 1 year of ‘Expert level’ experience in security implementation on Unix/Linux platforms.
• Experience in encryption technologies & implementation on LAMP & other platforms.
• At least 2 years experience in other technologies (e.g. Java, .NET, SAP etc.)
• International work experience desirable.
