The Opportunity
Work Location is Bangalore in India, with some travel within India and abroad on technology related issues and collaborations.
Job Responsibilities
* Manage and maintain the current designs and models with incremental improvements in line with customer demands * Ideate, design and build new products in keeping with the company’s business goals * Involve in initiating and implementing technology absorption and its transfer from other international locations of the group * Interaction with Production team to build prototypes for manufacturing; adherence to quality, audits, etc, during product roll-out * Involve in product related discussions with Customers from both organised and unorganised segments * Manage a team of design specialists and build it further as per evolving requirements * Manage the operations of this centre independently. Run the unit as a Cost centre and ensure efficiency, maintain budgets, optimize employee cost and development, etc * Support the top management in leading the company towards its Vision
Professional experience
Has at least 15 years of experience in areas relating to Engineering, Design or R&D. Exposure to engineering design a must. Specific areas of experience:
* R&D and Design experience in the Capital equipment industry and in Application Engineering. Exposure to Sheet Metal fabrication areas will be an advantage * Strengths in Drawing; should have primary experience of MS Office and AutoCAD; exposure to other solutions such as ProE / PDM-System will be helpful * Good industrial understanding and comfort with a manufacturing company’s structure and functioning * Prior experience in managing an R&D setup, with proven ability to think strategically to align R&D efforts to organization growth * Have good R&D Management skills - risk understanding & management, ability to manage a portfolio of projects based on cost benefit ratio, appropriate resource allocation * Knowledge of processes to control operation flow * High on team spirit, good people management skills and ability to push for results * Must be result-focused, with a hands on “doer” attitude * Exposure to R&D in a global context including technology transfer related interactions with foreign collaborators and technicians will be an advantage * International experience or ability to deal in multicultural environment * Ability and comfort to travel within India and abroad
Education - Bachelor / Master of Engineering – preferably Mechanical, from a college of repute
